Andiamo - Italian Lyrics

O Sole Mio

Che bella cosa na jurnata ‘e sole,
n’aria serena, doppo a na tempesta!
Pe’ll’aria fresca pare già na festa…
Che bella cosa na jurnata ‘e sole.

Ma n’atu sole
cchiù bello, oi ne’.
‘o sole mio,
sta ‘nfronte a te!
‘o sole, ‘o sole mio
sta ‘nfronte a te!
sta ‘nfronte a te!

Che bella cosa na jurnata ‘e sole,
n’aria serena, doppo a na tempesta!
Pe’ll’aria fresca pare già na festa…
Che bella cosa na jurnata ‘e sole.

Ma n’atu sole
cchiù bello, oi ne’.
‘o sole mio,
sta ‘nfronte a te!

‘O sole, ‘o sole mio
sta ‘nfronte a te
sta ‘nfronte a te!

La Danza

I giorni nascono, crescono lenti cosi.
Poi si rincorrono e fuggono veloci via

I giorni insegnano e stupiscono
regalano sogni e poi

I giorni svelano e nascondono

Piango e poi rido cosi.

Piango e poi rido cosi.!

Da cui non so scender piu’ e mi piace cosi;
Mi senti vivo cosi.

Canta la vita tra mille momenti
Coro dei miei sentimenti
Mia liberta’ e schiavitu’ e mi piace cosi.
Mi sento vivo cosi.

I giorni passano e fuggono veloci via.

Mamma

Mamma son tanto felice Mama,
perche ritorno da te.
La mia canzone ti dice
ch'e il piu bel giorno per me!
Mamma, son tanto felice,
Viver lontano, perche?

Mamma, Mama,
Solo per te la mia canzone vola.
Mamma, Mama,
Sarai con me, tu non sarai piu sola!

Quanto ti voglio bene,
queste parole d’amore
che ti sospira il mio cuore
forse non s’usano piu.

Mamma, Mama,

cerca I miei riccio li d’or.
Sento e la voce ti manca,
la ninna nanna d’allor.
Oggi la testa tua Bianca
io voglio stringere al cuor.

Mamma, Mama,
Solo per te la mia canzone vola.
Mamma, Mama,
Sarai con me, tu non sarai piu sola!

Quanto ti voglio bene,
queste parole d’amore
che ti sospira il mio cuore
forse non s’usano piu.

Mamma, Mama,

Dimmi che illusione non e;
dimmi che sei tutta per me!
Qui sul tuo cuor, non soffro più:
parlami d'amore, Mariù!

So, che una bella e maliarda sirena sei tu;

Dimmi che illusione non e;
dimmi che sei tutta per me!
Qui sul tuo cuor, non soffro più:
parlami d'amore, Mariù!

Parlami d'amore, Mariù!

Quando, Quando, Quando

Dimmi quando tu verrai.
Dimmi quando, quando, quando:
l'anno, il giorno e l’ora in cui
forse tu mi bacerai.

Ogni istante attendero…
Fino a quando, quando, quando,
D’improvviso ti vedro,
sorridente accanto a me.

Se vuoi dirmi di si
Se vuoi dirmi di si
devi dirlo perche.
devi dirlo perche.

non ha senso per me
non ha senso per me
la mia vita senza te.

Tell me when will you be mine.
Tell me quando, quando, quando,
We can share a love divine.
Please don’t make me wait again.

Se vuoi dirmi di si
Se vuoi dirmi di si
devi dirlo perche.
devi dirlo perche.
.

non ha senso per me
non ha senso per me,
la mia vita senza te..

Dimmi quando tu verrai.
Dimmi quando, quando, quando,
non ci lasceremo mai!
non ci lasceremo mai!
non ci lasceremo mai!

Santa Lucia Luntana

Partono 'e bastimente
Pe’ terre assaje luntane
Cantano a buordo:

Cantano pe' tramente

Santa Lucia!
Luntano 'a te

Santa Lucia, tu tiene

Santa Lucia,
Luntano 'a te
quanta malincunia!

Se gira 'o munno sano,

ma, quanno sponta 'a luna,
luntano ‘a Napule
nun se po sta!

Santa Lucia,
Luntano 'a te
quanta malincunia!

O Surdato ‘nnammurato

Staje luntana da stu core,

Niente voglio e niente spero.
ma tenerte sempe a fianco a me!
Si' sicura 'e chist'ammore

Oje vita, oje vita mia...

Ma, scetánnome 'a sti suonne,
mme faje chiagnere pe' te...

Oje vita.... Oh life…

Scrive sempe e stai cuntenta:
io nun penzo che a te sola...
Nu penziero per tu sola.

'A cchiù bella 'e tutte bella,
nun è maie più bella e te!

Oje vita...

Volare

Volare oh, oh!
Cantare oh, oh, oh, oh!
Nel blu dipinto di blu
felice di stare lassu

E volavo, volavo felice piu
in alto del sole ed ancora piu su,
Mentre il mondo pian piano spariva lontano laggiu,
Una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me.

Volare oh, oh!
Cantare oh, oh, oh, oh!
Nel blu dipinto di blu
felice di stare lassu

Ma tutti I sogni nell’alba svaniscon perche,

Volare oh, oh!
Cantare oh, oh, oh, oh!
Nel blu degli occhi tuoi blu
felice di stare quggiù.

Volare oh, oh!
Cantare oh, oh, oh, oh!
Nel blu degli occhi tuoi blu
felice di stare quggiù.

Nel blu degli occhi tuoi blu
felice di stare quggiù.

Torna a Surriento

Vido 'o mare quant'è bello,
Spira tantu sentimento.
Comme tu a chi tiene mente,
Ca scetato 'o faie sunnà.

Guarda, qua' chistu ciardino;
Siente, sie' sti sciure arance;
Nu prufumo accussì fino
Dinto 'o core se ne va...

E tu dice "I' parto, addio!"
T'alluntane da stu core...
Da sta terra de l'ammore...
Tiene 'o core 'e nun turnà?

Ma nun me lassà
Nun darme stu turmiento!
Torna a Surriento,
Famme campà!

Vide 'o mare de Surriento,
Che tesoro tene 'nfunno;
Chi ha girato tutto 'o munno
Nun l'ha visto comm'a ccà.

Guarda attuorno sti sserene,
Ca te guardano 'ncantate
E te vonno tanto bene...
Te vulessero vasà.

E tu dice "I' parto, addio!"
T'alluntane da stu core...
Da sta terra de l'ammore...
Tiene 'o core 'e nun turnà?

Ma nun me lassà
Nun darme stu turmiento!
Torna a Surriento,
Famme campà!

Torna a Surriento,
Famme Or,
Famme Or,
Famme Or,
Campa!

Arrivederci Roma

Trevi Fountain!

Ce sta 'na leggenda romana
legata a 'sta vecchia Fontana,
per cui se ce butti un soldino,
costringi er destino a fatte tornà.

Arrivederci, Roma...
Good bye...au revoir... Goodbye…au revoir…
Si ritrova a pranzo a Squarciarelli
fettuccine e vino dei Castelli
come ai tempi belli che Pinelli immortalò!

Arrivederci, Roma...
Good bye...au revoir... Goodbye…au revoir…
Si rivede a spasso in carozzella,
e ripensa a quella "ciumachella

di quella inglesina col naso all'insù

Io qui, proprio qui l'ho incontrata...
E qui...proprio qui l'ho baciata...
Lei qui con la voce smarrita
m'ha detto:"E' finita ritorno lassù!"

Ma prima di partire l'inglesina
buttò la monetina e sussurrò:

Arrivederci, Roma...
Good bye...au revoir... “Goodbye…au revoir…
Voglio ritornare in Via Margutta
voglio rivedere la soffitta “
dove m'hai tenuta stretta accanto a te!

Arrivederci, Roma...
Non so scordarti più...
Porto in Inghilterra i tuoi tramonti,

English Translation

O Sole Mio

What a wonderful thing, a sunny day,
The serene air after a thunderstorm,
The air is fresh, and a party is already going on.
What a wonderful thing, a sunny day.

But another sun,
One that’s brighter still,
Is my own sun--
That radiantly shines from your face!
The sun, my own sun,
It’s in your face!
It’s in your face!

What a wonderful thing, a sunny day,
The serene air after a thunderstorm,
The air is fresh, and a party is already going on.
What a wonderful thing, a sunny day.

But another sun,
One that’s brighter still,
‘It’s my own sun--
That’s radiantly shines from your face!

The sun, my own sun,
That’s in your face!
That’s in your face!

La Danza

The days are born, and thus they slowly grow.
Then they fly swiftly by.

The days teach and astonish;
They offer us dreams and then,

The days help me forget her
I was a fool then; I would like to live them over again.

The days both revealed and kept secret
All of who I was

Life dances, amidst thousands of moments.
The merry-go-round of my feelings,
Which I don’t know how to stop, holds such pleasure;
I cry, and then I laugh: that’s life!

I breathe in the night, I come up with plans and ideas,
At times I’m distracted, in the heat of fantasy.

My nightly imaginings pursue a future that
Seems never to arrive.

Life dances, amidst thousands of moments.
The merry-go-round of my feelings,
Which I don’t know how to stop, holds such pleasure;
I cry, and then I laugh: that’s life!

Although I don’t understand why things are as they are,
Despite it all, I wish I could rule
That kingdom that is inside me.

Life dances, amidst thousands of moments.
The merry-go-round of my feelings,
Which I don’t know how to stop, holds such pleasure;
I feel alive like that.

Life sings, amidst thousands of moments,
A chorus of feelings,
My freedom and my obsessions: they both hold such pleasure,
I feel alive, like that.

The days pass, they fly swiftly by.

Mamma

I’m so happy
Because I’m back with you.
My song tells you
ch'e il piu bel giorno per me! this is the most beautiful day for me!
Mama, I’m so happy!
Why should I ever live far away?

Mamma, Mama,
My song is only for you.
Mamma, Mama,
You’ll be with me, you won’t be alone any longer!

How I love you!
These loving words for you
That my heart sighs
Perhaps aren’t fashionable any more,

Mamma, Mama,
But you are my most beautiful song!
You are life,
And for the rest of my life, I’ll never again leave you.

I feel your tired hand reaching
For my golden curls.
I listen to your voice which
Can no longer sing old lullabies.
Today I want your old white head
close to my heart.

Mamma, Mama,
My song is only for you.
Mamma, Mama,
You’ll be with me, you won’t be alone any longer!

How I love you!
These loving words for you
That my heart sighs
Perhaps aren’t fashionable any more,

Mamma, Mama,
But you are my most beautiful song!
You are life,
And for the rest of my life, I’ll never again leave you.

How I love you!
These loving words for you
That my heart sighs
Perhaps aren’t fashionable any more,

Mamma, Mama,
But you are my most beautiful song!
You are life,
And for the rest of my life, I’ll never again leave you.

Mama, never again!

How beautiful you are this evening, more than ever, Mariù!
A smile twinkles star-like in your blue eyes.
Even if Fate should be turn against me tomorrow,
Today I am with you: why be sad?
Don’t think about it!

Speak to me of love, Mariù!
I live only for you!
Your lovely eyes shine brightly,
They flash with a dreamy fire!

Tell me that this is no illusion;
Tell me that you are all mine!
Here near your heart I suffer no more:
Speak to me of love, Mariù!

So, I know you are a beautiful yet dangerous Siren;
I know that the man who engages those blue eyes loses himself.
But what’s does this joke of a world matter?
Better instead to fall into the deep whirlpool, and to always be with you,
Yes, with you!

Speak to me of love, Mariù!
I live only for you!
Your lovely eyes shine brightly,
They flash with a dreamy fire!

Tell me that this is no illusion;
Tell me that you are all mine!
Here near your heart I suffer no more:
Speak to me of love, Mariù!

Speak to me of love, Mariù!

Quando, Quando, Quando

Tell me when you will be mine,
Tell me when, when, when:
The year, the day and the hour that
We’ll kiss.

Every moment I am waiting…
For when, when, when,
I will suddenly see you
Smiling beside me.

If you wish to tell me ‘yes’
If you wish to tell me ‘yes’
You have to say it because
You have to say it because

My life without you
Has no meaning,
lHas no meaning..

Tell me when will you be mine.
Tell me quando, quando, quando,
We can share a love divine.
Please don’t make me wait again.

If you wish to tell me ‘yes’
If you wish to tell me ‘yes’
You have to say it because
You have to say it because.

My life without you
Has no meaning,
Has no meaning..

Tell me when you will be mine
Tell me when, when, when…
Let’s not give up on us!
Let’s not give up on us!
Let’s not give up on us!

Funiculì, Funiculá

Do you know where I got on
Yesterday evening, baby?
Yesterday evening, baby?

Where this ungrateful heart can’t be spiteful
To me anymore!
To me anymore!

Where the fire burns, but if you run away
It lets you go?
It lets you go?

And it doesn’t run after you, doesn’t tire you,
Looking at the sky
Looking at the sky

Let’s go on,
Let’s go on,
Funiculì, funiculà, funiculì,
Let’s go on, funiculì, funiculà.

The head has already got on, baby,
The head’s got on
The head’s got on.

It has gone, then returned, then come…
It is still here!
It is still here!

The head turns, turns, around, around,
Around you!
Around you!

This heart always sings, one of these days,
Get married to me, baby!
Get married to me, baby!

Let’s go on,
Let’s go on,
Funiculì, funiculà, funiculì,
Let's go on, funiculì, funiculà.

Santa Lucia Luntana

The ships are leaving
For lands far away,
And singing on board
Are the Neapolitan sailors.

They sing when at sunset
The bay disappears
And the Moon, above the ocean,
Lets them see
A bit of Naples.

Santa Lucia!
Far from you,
How much melancholy!

We circle the world,
to seek our fortunes,

But, when the Moon rises,
Far from Naples,
You can’t stay away.

Saint Lucia, you have
only a small bit of the sea,
But the longer I stay away,
the more beautiful you are…

Like the siren-songs
That cast their nets,
My heart wants no riches:
If it was born in Naples,
It wants to die there!

Saint Lucia,
Far from you,
How much melancholy!

We circle the world
To seek our fortunes…

But when the Moon rises,
far from Naples,
You can’t stay away!

Santa Lucia, Saint Lucia,
Far from you,
How much melancholy!

O Surdato ‘nnammurato

Interned far from your heart
My thoughts fly to you
I want nothing and I hope for nothing.
I want you to stay with me always.
This heart, be sure, is yours,
And yours, I’m sure, is mine…

Oh life, oh my life…
Oh heart of this heart…
You have been my first love
The first and the last you will be for me!

How many nights have I not seen you,
Or felt your arms,
Or kissed your face,
Or strongly embraced you?
But I wake dreaming of you
And cry out for you,

Oh life…

Always write and stay happy,
I don’t want to think of you as being alone…
I don’t want to worry about your being alone.
I am devoted alone to you.
Of the many who are beautiful,
No one is more beautiful than you.

Oh life…

Mona Lisa

In a villa in a little old Italian town
Lives a girl whose beauty shames the rose.
but their hopes all tumble down
No one knows!

Mona Lisa Mona Lisa, men have named you:
You're so like the lady with the mystic smile
Is it only 'cause you're lonely, they have blamed you
For that Mona Lisa strangeness in your smile?

Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there and they die there.
Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely, lovely work of art?

Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there and they die there
Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely, lovely work of art?

Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa

Maria Marì

Open, o window!
Let Mary appear,
As I’m in the middle of the street
Hoping to see her!

I don’t have a moment’s peace:
I turn night into day
To always be here,
Hoping to talk to her!

O Mary, o Mary!
How much sleep I lose over you!
Let me sleep,
Just hugging you!

O Mary, o Mary!
How much sleep I lose over you!
Let me sleep,
O Mary, o Mary!

(Repeat)

Volare

I think such a dream will never come back:
I painted my hands and my face blue.
Then suddenly I was overtaken by the wind
And I started flying into the infinite sky.

Volare oh, oh! Flying, oh, oh!
Singing, oh, oh, oh, oh!
In the blue, painted blue--
Happy to be up there.

And I was flying, flying happily
As high as the sun and even higher,
While the world was slowly disappearing, far beneath.
Soft music was playing just for me.

Flying, oh, oh!
Singing, oh, oh, oh, oh!
In the blue, painted blue--
Happy to be up there

But all dreams fade away at dawn, because
While setting, the Moon takes them away.
But I keep dreaming each time I look into your beautiful eyes,
Which are as blue as a sky splashed with stars.

Flying, oh, oh!
Singing, oh, oh, oh, oh!
In the blue of your blue eyes
Happy to be down here.

Flying, oh, oh!
Singing, oh, oh, oh, oh!
In the blue of your blue eyes
Happy to be down there.

In the blue of your blue eyes
Happy to

be down there.

Torna a Surriento

See the beauty of the sea:
Tender passion is sighing,
Like your heart, where all my thoughts fly
While I daydream.

See this lovely bedewed garden
Breathing orange-scented greetings;
Nothing makes my heart race
Like the fragrance of its perfume.

And you say “I must leave you!”
Our hearts shall soon be parted…
Can you leave the land of love?
Shall your heart return no more?

Don’t tell me “goodbye;”
Don’t torment me so.
Come back to Sorrento,
Or I shall die.

See the sea around Sorrento,
That hides treasure in waters deep,
Wherever you go in the world
You will never see their like.

Look around, and see the Sirens
Whispering their song to you;
Wishing they could woo you always
With their tender songs of love.

And you say “I must leave you!”
Our hearts shall soon be parted…
Can you leave the land of love?
Shall your heart return no more?

Don’t tell me “goodbye;”
Don’t torment me so.
Come back to Sorrento,
Or I shall die.

Come back to Sorrento,
Famme Or,
Famme Or,
Famme Or,
Campa! I shall die.

Arrivederci Roma

I envy the tourist who arrives,
Investigating the forums and excavations,
Who suddenly discovers
Trevi Fountain!

A Roman legend persists,
Connected to the old Fountain,
That if you throw in a coin,
Your luck will change!

And -- when your coin comes to rest in the fountain,
Your heart, elated, takes root here.

Goodbye, Rome…
Good bye...au revoir... Goodbye…au revoir…
To lunch again at Squarciarelli,
Fettuccine and wine from Castelli
The beautiful times at the immortal Pinelli!

Goodbye, Rome…
Good bye...au revoir... Goodbye…au revoir…
Seeing oneself again in a carriage,
And thinking back to that “tender flower”
Who was quite beautiful -- and who always said “no!”

This evening the Trevi Fountain
Tells the moon, as usual,
The stories of near and far--
About that Englishwoman with the upturned nose

Whom I really met here,
And whom I really kissed here,
And who really said, in her little lost voice,
“It’s finished … I must return (to England).”

But before leaving, the Englishwoman
Threw a coin in the Fountain and whispered,

“Goodbye, Rome…
“Goodbye…au revoir…
“I want to come back to Via Margutta,
“Once more I want to see the little loft,
“Where he hugged me close to him!”

“Goodbye, Rome…
“I cannot forget you.
“To England I take my memory of your sunset,
“To London I take my remembrance of your Trinity of mountains;
"I love you!" “My heart carries its pledge--that ‘I love you!’”

And as the Englishwoman turns away,
A little boy approaches the Fountain
To fish for a coin, and goes away.
