composer you can enter all or part of the last name as the search string. To
search for all titles by Beethoven, enter "beethoven" or "beeth" to retrieve all
listing by Beethoven. When search for Mozart, for example, your results will
retrieve both Wolfgang and Leopolds' listings. First name searches are not
supported by this search engine.
-
Category - Artist: Follow the same guidelines
described above for artist searches.
-
Category - Ensemble: Ensembles are listed in
the database as the appear on the CD. If you know the name of the ensemble you
can enter the search string. For example, "english chamber orchestra" will
retrieve the listings for this ensemble. If you are unsure of the name, enter
part of the ensemble name. Entering "chamber" will retrieve the "English Chamber
Orchestra listings as well as any other ensembles with the word "chamber" in
it.
-
Category - Album Title: If you are searching
for a specific album title enter all or part of the CD's title name. The catalog
generally contains the Album Titles as they appear on the spine of the jewel
case. This often includes composer, work titles, and performer information.
-
Category - Composition: If you want to search
to see if the catalog contains Mozart's Symphony in G minor, K550 you would
first choose the Composition Category, then enter "k550" as the search string.
If no result is listed try other possible combinations like "kv550", "k.550", or
simply "550". You could also try "symphony in g minor". But generally, the
shorter the string the better the chances of finding what you're looking
for.
-
Category - Catalog #: Catalog numbers can be
retrieve by entering the number portion of the string. For example if you are
looking for a title with the catalog number CO-18010, you would enter "18010" as
the search string. Do not include the prefix
"CO-". |
